Oviedo, Fl, Jan. 25, 2007 - Hagerty high school registration information night was held this evening for 9th graders and new students entering Hagerty high school for the first time for the 2007 / 2008 school year. The evening started with an introduction by Hagerty Principal Sam Momary and counselors Mr. Cannon and Dr. Siskind. Information was presented about changes to the State requirements for the graduating class of 2011, including the newly required major selection, as well as changes to the required credits necessary to graduate, and college scholarship information. After the hour long presentation, parents and students ventured off to various locations throughout the campus for more detailed information.
The old gym was filled with teachers and coaches available to discuss different subjects covering drafting, foreign language, computer programming, football, chorus and more. In all, the staff was very informative and helpful, which helps in making the transition from middle school to high school a little less stressful on the parents and kids as well.
The media center featured the counselors providing information about technical training, college entrance requirements and scholarships available through the Brightfutures scholarship program. The cafeteria was host to Ms. Bryce and Ms. Lynch discussing extracurricular activities offered at Hagerty high school and finally the auditorium was location for information regarding advanced placement, technical prep courses and the gifted program.
The evening was very informative and a great opportunity to educate the students and parents about the great education opportunities in store for them at Hagerty high school. Go Huskies!!!
